Homemade Hummus Dip Recipe

Homemade hummus recipe

Hummus is one of my favourite dips and I love to snack on vegetable stick with hummus and pita chips with hummus dip is an amazing party snack. You can also use hummus as spread for your pita rolls. So, here is my homemade hummus dip recipe. You can use chick peas from and for that you need to drain all the water from the chick peas but if you are using home boiled chick peas then make sure soak at least for 6 hours before boiling then. Let some water (about 1/4th to ½ cup water remain in the home boiled chick peas). You can use water for smooth grinding but I sometimes prefer yogurt as it results into very smooth and even tastier hummus.

Homemade hummus recipe:

400 grams chick peas

1 tablespoon tahini paste

2-3 cloves of garlic

3 teaspoons of olive oil

2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice

A pinch of salt

Water or yogurt as needed for making paste (it requires about 2 teaspoons yogurt and 2-4 teaspoons of water)

Put all the ingredients in a blender and pulse till it makes a smooth paste. If your blender is getting stuck add a little water (not more than two teaspoons at a time) of yogurt for smooth grinding. Once it’s a nice and smooth paste, transfer it to a plate and drizzle with generous amount of olive oil. You can add more lemon juice to suit your taste. You sprinkle some sumac powder or chili flakes chopped parsley leaves on top. Put a few black olives and sun dried tomatoes to decorate you hummus dip, if you want.
